Again

Repeating yourself for emphasis
is not unusual.
              We all
   do it.
   Repeating yourself
   often makes people think
   that you’ve forgotten what you
   just said.
              Repeating yourself
   repeatedly suggests to many
   that something must be wrong…
It’s not that simple.
       Often
   you’ve come to see that what
   you said once quite well
   was the best way to say it.
You keep saying it that way
   since other ways sound false.
Your lone defense was
   Walt Whitman’s more assuring
   comment when he was told
   that he repeated himself…
“You say I repeat myself.
Very well, I repeat myself.”
