It seems that virtually every local publication, from newspapers to magazines, has been eager to make note regarding the booming growth of the Strip District in respect to both residential and commercial activity. As revealed in our last issue, the international golf magazine Kingdom—circulation two million—published a two-page spread about the Strip. So we decided to join in and devote a large portion of an issue to our neighborhood, and here it is.
Hilary Daninhirsch’s article “Who’s Moving into the Strip and Why?” gives us a sampling of answers to that question by reviewing some important recent statistics and also interviewing several of the Strip’s very satisfied residents.
Christopher Cussat profiles the Smile Warehouse, an innovative dental practice headed by Dr. Christopher P. Hayner, who lives in the Strip and has recently moved his practice here.
We welcome our new real estate columnist, Megan Stearman, who has extensive professional real estate experience in Pittsburgh; in this issue, she gives her knowledgeable take on the evolution of the Strip District.
Our booming residential sector has attracted numerous entrepreneurs to serve its needs. PetVet365 has been open in The Terminal for more than a year. Writer Anne M. Oyler recently talked with the two veterinarian owners, Drs. Emily Morse and Megan Garrison, about their “no fear” approach to treating their patients—whether they be dogs, cats, rabbits, or any other cuddly creature. The practice is thriving, so their treatment concept is surely a successful one.
We finally get out of the Strip with our editor, Greg Suriano who takes us on a countywide tour to tell us about some of the gastronomical delicacies he has found and enjoyed in his travels beyond the Strip.
See you in the neighborhoods!
“When you look at a city, it’s like reading the hopes, aspirations, and pride of everyone who built it.”
