Autumn already? Where did summer go? It went by in a blur, as usual. But there’s still plenty of beautiful weather left before the Pittsburgh winter arrives.

In the meantime, we’ve put together, with the assistance of our very capable writers, an issue whose subjects range from the pleasures of cicchetti dishes via dining in Venice (and in our own area) to a treasure trove of antiques in Mahla & Co. showrooms, and from an expanded “What’s New” section to a visit with another ’Burgh collector, who shares the world’s games with us.

We also continue our travels beyond the Strip—geographically, south to the elegant Vinoski Winery, a castled estate in Rostraver, and into the past with a profile of Pittsburgh’s great woman mystery writer who happened to inspire the creation of Batman, Mary Roberts Rinehart. Most impressively we are once again welcoming a major company to the Strip—yes, Facebook is a new resident in our neighborhood. Last issue we presented Bombardier, this issue Facebook in District 15, next issue …?

It’s an exciting edition we hope you’ll enjoy—let us know!

“Designers want me to dress like spring, in billowing things. I don’t feel like spring; I feel like a warm, red autumn.”
