Throughout our 10-plus years, we’ve tried to publish each issue with as varied editorial content as possible. I think we’ve managed to do it again in this issue.

You’ll find personality-based articles on Joe Hermanowski, a near-legendary figure in the Strip District, and on nationally recognized artist Kathleen Zimbicki (who has also designed this issue’s front cover).

Profiles of several neighborhood businesses also feature prominently this time: there’s a new home for those “almost famous” little donuts; a great shop featuring unusual pastries and ice cream; a new coffee shop where you will soon be able to enjoy a cocktail as well as coffee roasted onsite; and a revolutionary salon that offers customers a choice of individual studios and stylists. And, for those willing to travel a bit farther afield, our “Beyond” series visits historic Johnstown.

So, take a look—we hope you enjoy our efforts. See you in the neighborhoods.

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
